Here is our super easy Homemade Applesauce Recipe! Once you make it at home you’ll never want to go back to store bought. Who wants all those preservatives?
Plus when you use our Applesauce Recipe you can customize it to your taste. More cinnamon? Yes, please.
Some Crockpot Recipes don’t give off the best scent but this recipe smells like a Cinnamon Apple candle. Perfect for the cold winter or fall days.
And if you’re anything like us you keep a huge bag of apples around often in an attempt to avoid junk food (yeah, doesn’t work for us either).
We prefer really tart applesauce so our go-to is always Granny Smith, but you can use a variety depending on what’s available near you and what you like. Honey Crisp, Red Delicious, Gold Delicious, Fuji, McIntosh, etc. will all work just fine. Mix and match if you feel up to it.
NOTE – We like “clean” Applesauce so most of the items people include in their Applesauce Recipe are “add ons” in ours. This works great if you’re limiting your sugar intake or don’t care for cinnamon. Adjust to your preference. The sugar and cinnamon can easily be added in after it cooks.

8 Medium to Large Apples
1 tsp Lemon Juice
1 Tablespoon Brown Sugar (Optional – we don’t add any since Granny Smith is already sweet and tart)
1/4 tsp Cinnamon or 1 Small Cinnamon Stick (Optional – to taste)
After you wash the apples, peel, slice and core them.
Add all the ingredients to the Crock pot. Let it simmer on low for 3-5 hours (depending on your machine), stirring occasionally.
Once you see the apples are broken down and soft, use an immersion blender (here is the one we use) or masher and blend until smooth.
OPTIONAL- this is when you can add the brown sugar and cinnamon to taste if you didn’t add it earlier.
