4th of July

4th of July is almost here and we have some fun 4th of July-themed recipes for you! There is nothing more patriotic than reveling in the good old red, white and blue.
These 4th of July Marshmallow Jell-O Pops are quick, easy, inexpensive and kid-friendly. What’s not to love about marshmallows and Jell-O! (Side Bar…please tell us we’re not the only folks who sing “J-E-L-L-O” vs. actually reading it? Darn commercials!)
Ok, back to the good stuff! We tested two different methods to coat the marshmallows. Using Ziploc Bags to shake the Jell-O coating onto the marshmallows worked much better than just “rolling” the marshmallow into the Jell-O. Some intense finger licking action did go down with the rolling method however. We rocked a blue tongue all day.
INGREDIENTS:
Red Jell-O 6 oz Box (Strawberry, Cherry or Raspberry)
Blue Jell-O 6 oz Box (Berry Blue)
(1) Bag of Large Marshmallows
Popsicle Sticks
2 Gallon Size Ziploc Bags (or sandwich bags for smaller quantity)
DIRECTIONS:
1. Grab a cereal bowl and fill it half way up with water.
2. Take the popsicle sticks out of the package so their ready to go.
3. Pour the whole box of red Jell-O into a Ziploc Bag.
4. Pour the whole box of blue Jell-O into a separate Ziploc bag.
5. One or two at a time, dip the marshmallows quickly into the water and shake to remove the excess. Once the excess water is removed add the damp marshmallows to the Ziploc Bag filled with red Jell-O. Once you have 10 or so in the bag, zip it up tight and Shake, Shake, Shake!! Repeat as needed.
6. Once you’re done with the red Jell-O, repeat Step #5 with the blue Jell-O
7. Once all the marshmallows are coated with Jell-O you can start adding them to the popsicle sticks. Start with the blue marshmallow, followed by the plain white marshmallow and finally the red marshmallow.
8. Enjoy!
The bag of large Marshmallows made about 20 pops.
